The True Craft Method
The True Craft Method draws on centuries-old keyboard training traditions and combines them with modern musical insights to create a unified system for understanding music structurally.
Rather than focusing only on memorising pieces or repeating chord shapes and licks without understanding, students learn how musical ideas are organised and connected within a clear musical structure. This allows them to sight-read fluently, improvise confidently, play by ear, and perform across many different musical styles.
Training is built around a small number of essential musical skills that develop together over time. These include a number-based coordinate system for reading music, organised melodic thinking, structured rhythmic understanding, and confident navigation of the keyboard.
Through well-structured and guided training, students gradually develop the ability to recognise, organise, and express musical ideas with clarity and confidence at the piano. Students can then apply these skills by studying within one or both of our structured learning paths, depending on their musical interests and goals
